Governor Obi Lays Foundation Stone for Accelerated Development of lgbariam campus of ANSU

   

Anambra State University will in the nearest future witness accelerated structural development just as the State Governor on Wednesday the 28 of January, 2010 laid the foundation stone of five buildings at the permanent site of the Igbariam campus of Anambra State University.

The site which already is undergoing perimeter fencing has got the blessing of the State Chief Executive who eye marked over three billion naira for construction of various buildings including Administration block, Management, Agriculture and Hostel blocks.

Governor Peter Obi use the occasion to reassure the people of the State of his avowed commitment to his campaign promises especially in education where he has made giant strides say that the State is today the greatest sponsor of Microsoft in the micro soft academy, equipped 110 Secondary Schools with micro soft facilities connected to internet, building (4000) four thousand classroom blocks across the 171 communities in Anambra State adding that the state would have faired better of 2090 of his commitment into education was done by previous administrations.

Mr, Obi used the forum to call on Anambrarians to be careful of the hawks whose stock-in-trade is destruction and bastardization of the State economy, describing Anambra State as the most important state in the South East, needed to be guarded jealously just like Lagos and Kano are to Yoruba and Hausa respectively with regional parties: - Action Congress (AC), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and APGA uncompromised in these States reminding Anambrarians that they cannot be different. He stated that his love for democracy and rule of law made him not only to welcome Governors from other parties to the State on campaign but he gave them cars and assistance to enhance their stay in the state and therefore sued for free and fairs polls.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education used the occasion to preach the warefanism for which Obi's Administration is known, stressing that the Governor's Policy thrust in Education has not be compromised and described Peter Obi as a great planner who has ever completed whatever
project he started calling on the People of Anambra State to give him second mandate to complete the very many ongoing projects in the state.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Anambra State University Governing Council, Prof Elochukwu Amucheazi poured encomiums on Governor Obi for his giant strides in developing the University, adding that Governor Peter Obi is ready to and committed to place Anambra State University among the best Universities in the world. Prof. Amucheazi stated that Igbariam campus of Anambra State University remains the largest campus in Africa, commending Mr. Obi for setting aside over three billion naira (N3b) for perimeter fencing and construction of about five model buildings. The elated Chairman of Anambra State University Council presented the master plan of the campus which according to him was developed on the traditions and belief of the Igbo.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ifeanacho Paul Orajaka describing the foundation laying stone as epoch making stated that the University is being developed systematically as befitting structures are being put in place adding that his joy knows no bounds as according to him "our dream for the University is being achieved".

High point on the occasion was laying of foundation stone for the five model buildings including Management, Administration's block, Faculty of Agriculture and Hostels and perimeter fencing.

The occasion was attended by the members of State Executive Council and APGA stalwarts, Anambra State University Deputy Vice Chancellors Uli and Igbariam campuses, the Registrar, the Bursar, the Librarian, all the members of Anambra State University Governing Council, Deans, Heads of Department, Directors, Students Union leaders, Staff and Students.
